Sunlight
Full sun: Place your plant in a spot that gets 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight every day.
Heat tolerance: The plant loves warm weather and tropical or subtropical heat.
Shade warning: Too little light causes poor growth and very little fruit.
Soil
Well-draining: The soil must drain well to prevent root rot and standing water.
Ideal pH: Aim for a slightly acidic to neutral soil with a pH level between 5.5 and 7.0.
Nutrient mix: Enrich the earth with organic compost, aged manure, or worm humus before planting
Watering
Deep watering: Water the plant deeply and less often to build strong, deep roots.
Check topsoil: Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch.
Frequency: Young plants need regular moisture to settle. Established plants need deep watering 1 to 2 times a week during hot or dry summer periods.
