Light Needs
Provide 4 to 6 hours of bright, filtered sunlight or partial shade daily.
Avoid harsh, scorching afternoon sun, though some filtered direct light enhances colorful bract production.
Keep the soil evenly moist during the growing season.
Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels slightly dry, but never let the pot become waterlogged or soggy.
Reduce watering slightly during cooler winter months when active growth slows down.
Use a rich, fertile, and well-draining organic potting mix enriched with compost or well-rotted manure.
Choose a sturdy, moderately large container if growing in a pot to support the expanding rhizome clumps and prevent tipping.
