Light and Temperature
Place the tree in a cool room away from direct sunlight, heating vents, fireplaces, and radiators to prevent the needles or leaves from drying out.
Provide bright, indirect light if grown indoors as a houseplant.
Avoid sudden temperature shocks by moving the plant to a sheltered transitional space (like a garage or porch) for a few days before moving it between indoor heat and outdoor cold.
Watering and Soil
Keep the soil evenly moist but never waterlogged or soggy.
Check the moisture level with your finger; water thoroughly only when the top inch of soil feels slightly dry.
Use a well-draining potting mix and a pot with drainage holes to prevent fatal root rot.
Reduce watering slightly during the winter dormancy period.
