Sunlight and Location
Full sun: Provide a minimum of 6–8 hours of bright, direct sun daily; less light leads to fewer blooms.
Outdoor preference: This is an outdoor tropical/subtropical plant that thrives in warm weather and requires protection from frost.
Well-draining mix: Use a light mix of garden soil, compost, and coarse sand or perlite.
Avoid soggy roots: Heavy clay or waterlogged earth causes fatal root rot. Ensure containers have strong drainage holes.
Soak and dry: Water the plant deeply, then let the top few inches of soil dry out completely before watering again.
Drought tolerance: Slight dry stress actually triggers heavier blooming cycles, but avoid extreme dehydration that causes leaf drop.
